The SECO 17013505 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiCN for improved wear resistance and heat tolerance, it handles demanding cuts in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 1-inch cutting diameter pairs with a 5-flute configuration and right-hand spiral flutes to produce a coarse-tooth roughing action that clears chips efficiently and reduces chatter under heavy load. At a 30-degree maximum helix angle, the tool balances cutting efficiency with edge stability across a range of feed rates. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals reach for this style of end mill when roughing out pockets, slots, and profiles before a finishing pass.
This roughing end mill is suited for use in vertical machining centers, knee mills, and CNC milling applications where high metal removal rates are the priority. The 6-inch length of cut and 8.5-inch overall length make it appropriate for deep-pocket roughing operations where extended reach is needed without stepping up to a long-reach tool. The regular-length series designation (REM710) places it in a standard tooling lineup commonly stocked for production and job-shop environments. It is not center-cutting, so plunge entry is not recommended without a pre-drilled start hole.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's toolholding torque and runout specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing or measuring tooling. Verify shank seating depth and runout with a dial indicator before committing to a full cut. Because this tool is not center-cutting, always use a pre-drilled or pre-bored entry point for plunge moves.
