The SECO 17013503 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiCN coating, this tool delivers the heat resistance and wear performance required in demanding production environments. It features a 1-inch mill diameter, a 3-inch length of cut, and a 5-flute spiral configuration with a right-hand cutting direction and 30-degree maximum helix angle. The TiCN coating reduces friction and extends tool life compared to uncoated alternatives. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals rely on this series for roughing passes on ferrous and non-ferrous materials where chip clearance and edge strength are critical.
This end mill is suited for roughing applications in vertical and horizontal machining centers as well as manual mills. The REM710 series is engineered for regular-length applications where a 1-inch shank diameter and 5-1/2-inch overall length fit standard toolholders. The single-end design makes it a straightforward drop-in for roughing cycles in job shops, production floors, and maintenance machining environments. It is not center-cutting, so it is not intended for plunge milling without a pre-drilled entry point.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct drop-in for 1-inch single-end roughing end mill applications in standard R8, CAT, BT, and HSK toolholding systems that accept a 1-inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer torque and runout specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Verify shank diameter tolerances against the toolholder bore before seating the tool, as the shank tolerance runs -0.0001 to -0.0005 inches. Because this tool is not center-cutting, always establish an entry bore before beginning a pocket or plunge operation.
