The SECO 17013501 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in ferrous and high-strength alloy applications. It is manufactured from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiCN for improved wear resistance and heat tolerance. The tool measures 0.875 inches in diameter with a 1.875-inch length of cut and a 4.125-inch overall length. Its 5-flute spiral geometry with a 30-degree maximum helix angle produces a chatter-reducing chip-breaking action suited to heavy roughing passes. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this end mill in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
This end mill is designed for roughing operations in steel, stainless, and cobalt-chrome alloys where high material removal rates are the priority. The 7/8-inch shank seats directly into standard ER or side-lock holders. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are the standard configuration for conventional and climb milling on vertical and horizontal machining centers. It is not center-cutting, so plunge operations require a pre-drilled entry point. Typical applications include roughing pockets, slots, and peripheral cuts in production and job-shop environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-application roughing end mill for use in standard 7/8-inch end mill holders across vertical and horizontal machining center setups.
Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians following standard machine lockout/tagout procedures before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing a cut. Because this tool is not center-cutting, avoid direct plunge entry into solid material.
