The SECO 17013498 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiCN for improved wear resistance and heat tolerance, this tool is suited for heavy interrupted cuts and profile milling. It features a 3/4-inch mill diameter, a 1.625-inch length of cut, and a 5/8-inch shank diameter. The right-hand cutting, right-hand spiral flute geometry with a 30-degree maximum helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this end mill for roughing passes on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces.
This end mill is appropriate for use in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where roughing operations precede finishing passes. The regular-length configuration and 3.75-inch overall length make it a practical choice for general shop roughing work. The TiCN coating extends tool life in applications involving steel, stainless, and similar materials. It is a non-center-cutting tool, so plunge entry is not recommended without a pre-drilled pilot or ramping entry path.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked before changing tooling. Secure the shank fully within the collet or holder to the recommended engagement depth to prevent pullout under heavy roughing loads. Because this is a non-center-cutting end mill, avoid direct plunge cuts — use a ramping or helical entry strategy.
