The SECO 17013494 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials with a 9/16 inch (0.5625 inch) mill diameter and a 1/2 inch shank diameter. The TiCN coating increases surface hardness and reduces friction, extending tool life in demanding cutting conditions. With four flutes and a right-hand spiral flute direction, the 17013494 is suited for roughing passes where chip clearance and cut stability are the priority. The 30-degree maximum helix angle supports smooth chip evacuation. Licensed machinists and tool and die shops are the primary users.
This end mill fits standard milling machine and CNC machining center setups where a regular-length, single-end roughing tool is required. The 1-3/8 inch length of cut and 3-3/8 inch overall length make it a practical choice for medium-depth roughing operations on steel, stainless, and similar alloys. The right-hand cutting direction is compatible with conventional milling machine spindle rotation. It is not center-cutting and does not support coolant-through delivery, so flood coolant or mist systems are the recommended cooling method for sustained cuts.
Designed as a regular-length single-end roughing end mill in the REM710 series, compatible with 1/2 inch tool holders, collet chucks, and end mill adapters on conventional and CNC milling machines.
Installation is performed by machinists or tool operators using a properly sized collet or end mill holder rated for the 1/2 inch shank diameter. Confirm runout and holder torque specifications per the machine tool manufacturer before use. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the tool. Do not use this end mill for plunge cutting, as it is not center-cutting.
