The SECO 17013493 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in ferrous and high-temperature alloy machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN coating, it delivers heat and wear resistance needed in demanding cutting environments. The 1/2-inch diameter, 4-flute spiral geometry and 30-degree maximum helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation while maintaining a stable cutting edge. With a 2-inch length of cut and 4-inch overall length, this tool fits standard toolholders in vertical and horizontal milling setups. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard. Machining professionals and tool-room operators are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for roughing passes in job shop, production, and tool-and-die environments where stock removal rate matters more than surface finish. The REM710 series geometry is built for milling steel, alloy steel, and similar materials where cobalt tooling outperforms standard HSS. It is a non-centercutting design, so plunge milling is not recommended. No coolant-through provision means flood or mist coolant is applied externally during operation. Regular-length classification makes it a direct fit in standard collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style toolholders.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill replacement suitable for standard 1/2-inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and Weldon-style toolholding systems used in vertical and horizontal milling machines.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and power locked out per shop safety protocol. Ensure the toolholder bore and shank are clean and free of chips before seating the tool. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping to confirm proper seating. This is a non-centercutting tool — do not use for plunge cuts.
