The SECO 17013492 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN coating, it handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials with improved heat and wear resistance. The cutter measures 7/16 inch (0.4375 inch) in diameter with a 3/8 inch shank, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 2-11/16 inch overall length. Four right-hand spiral flutes with a 30-degree maximum helix angle and chipbreaker geometry clear chips efficiently during heavy roughing passes. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is suited for roughing operations on mill machines and machining centers where rapid stock removal is the primary objective. The TiCN coating extends tool life at elevated cutting speeds compared to uncoated cobalt tooling. The regular-length body and reduced shank diameter relative to the cutting diameter make it appropriate for standard tool holders and collets in vertical and horizontal milling setups. It is a non-centercutting design, so it is not intended for plunge cuts.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill for use in standard milling machines and CNC machining centers accepting a 3/8 inch straight shank tool holder or collet.
This tool is installed by machinists using appropriate collets or end mill holders rated for the 3/8 inch shank diameter. Ensure the spindle and all moving axes are fully powered down before changing tooling. Verify holder runout with a dial indicator after seating the tool, and confirm the non-centercutting design before programming any plunge moves. Follow shop-standard speeds and feeds for cobalt tooling on the specific workpiece material.
