The SECO 17013197 is a corner chamfer end mill from the VFP635 series, designed for high-performance material removal in demanding cutting applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright/uncoated finish, this single-end mill features a 2-inch diameter, four helical flutes, and a super close pitch configuration. The 45-degree chamfer geometry produces a controlled edge break at 0.0400 inches chamfer width. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry, and the Weldon flat shank provides positive drive retention in the holder. Licensed machinists and CNC tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers of this tool class.
The 17013197 is rated for primary use in stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium — material groups M and S in ISO classification. Its application range includes shouldering, slotting, ramp-down milling, helical interpolation, drill milling, and plunging and recessing operations. The 4-inch length of cut and 4-inch reach make it well suited to deep-pocket and full-depth slotting passes where rigidity and chip evacuation are critical concerns. The regular-length flute type and medium helix angle balance cutting force with surface finish in tough alloy work.
Designed for use in applications involving stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO material groups M and S). Part of the SECO VFP635 series; manufacturer catalog number VFP635-2.000-D3-C040.3-Z6. Compatible with standard 2-inch Weldon flat end mill holders.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup personnel. Ensure the machine spindle and tool holder are fully stopped and de-energized before changing or setting tooling. Confirm holder bore and Weldon flat setscrew engagement before running the spindle. Verify runout with a dial indicator after seating — excessive runout in large-diameter cobalt end mills accelerates edge wear and can cause chatter in hard materials.
