The SECO 17013187 is a corner chamfer end mill from the VFP635 series, designed for demanding metal removal applications in stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright/uncoated finish, this single-end tool carries four helical flutes at a medium helix angle and produces a 45-degree chamfer at 0.0400 inches width. With a 1-1/4 inch diameter, 3-inch length of cut, and 5.5-inch overall length, it handles shouldering, slotting, ramp-down, helical interpolation, drill mill operations, and plunging and recessing. It is centercutting, right-hand cut, and right-hand flute. Intended for professional machinists working in CNC and manual milling environments where tool life in hard materials is the priority.
This end mill fits production and job-shop environments where stainless steel and high-temp alloy workpieces are common. The super-close pitch and roughing material-removal classification make it appropriate for aggressive stock removal passes where chip evacuation and edge stability matter. The Weldon flat shank provides positive drive in standard end mill holders, reducing slippage under heavy radial loads. The VFP635 series is suited for applications that demand consistent chamfer geometry and corner integrity across repeated passes on difficult-to-machine materials.
Designed for use in standard 1-1/4 inch Weldon flat end mill holders. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (material codes M and S). This tool is cataloged under SECO manufacturers catalog number VFP635-1.250-D3-C040.3-Z6.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist using a compatible Weldon flat end mill holder torqued to the holder manufacturer's specification. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after seating, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on cobalt tooling in hard materials. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rate for M42 cobalt in superalloys without verifying with the tool manufacturer's application data.
