The SECO 17013186 is a corner chamfer end mill designed for demanding material removal in stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished bright/uncoated, it measures 1.25 inches in diameter with a 3-inch length of cut and 5.5-inch overall length. The 4-flute, right-hand helical configuration with a super-close pitch delivers smooth chip evacuation and stable cutting. A 0.040-inch chamfer width at 45 degrees adds a consistent edge break without requiring a secondary operation. This tool is center-cutting and supports a broad range of machining strategies, making it a practical choice for machinists and tool-and-die professionals working with hard and exotic alloys.
This end mill is suited for milling operations in job shops, aerospace component shops, and precision manufacturing environments where stainless steel and superalloy workpieces are common. Rated applications include shouldering, slotting, ramp-down milling, helical interpolation, drill milling, and plunging and recessing. Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using a standard end mill holder torqued against the Weldon flat per machine-tool manufacturer specifications. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for M42 cobalt tooling before engaging the cut. Inspect the holder bore and setscrew condition before mounting to prevent runout. Do not exceed the rated length of cut when slotting, as excessive axial depth can deflect the shank and damage the tool or workpiece.
