The SECO 17013178 is a corner chamfer end mill designed for aggressive material removal in demanding machining environments. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright/uncoated finish, this single-end mill features a 1-inch cutting diameter, 4 helical flutes in a right-hand cutting direction, and a 45-degree chamfer angle with a 0.0300-inch chamfer width. The 2-inch length of cut and 4.5-inch overall length make it well-suited for shouldering, slotting, rampdown, helical interpolation, drill milling, and plunging and recessing operations. It is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the primary users.
This end mill is optimized for use on stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces — materials in the M and S workpiece material codes. The VFP635 series uses a super-close pitch geometry, which supports chip thinning and reduces tool pressure in tough-to-machine alloys. The Weldon flat shank ensures secure toolholder engagement and minimizes pullout during high-torque cuts. Typical applications include precision part production in aerospace, medical device, and energy sector machining where material integrity and tight tolerances are critical.
Designed for use in standard Weldon flat toolholders accepting a 1-inch shank diameter. Suited for CNC milling applications targeting stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces per M and S workpiece material classifications. Manufacturer catalog reference: VFP435-1.000-D2-C030.3-Z4.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before tool changes. Seat the Weldon flat shank fully in the toolholder and torque the set screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification before operation. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation; excessive runout accelerates edge wear and can compromise dimensional accuracy on tight-tolerance workpieces.
