The SECO 17012965 is a single-end cobalt ball end mill from the SPB540 series, designed for center-cutting material removal in both roughing and finishing operations. The tool carries a 0.750-inch mill diameter with a 0.375-inch nose radius and a 2.25-inch length of cut, giving it the reach needed for deep-cavity and contoured surface work. A TiCN PVD coating reduces heat buildup and extends tool life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The four-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree medium helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting performance at elevated feeds.
This end mill is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S. It is a standard-length tool with a 0.750-inch Weldon flat shank and a 4.5-inch overall length, making it compatible with common milling chucks and collet holders used in CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers. Typical applications include die and mold work, aerospace component profiling, and general precision metalworking where a ball-nose geometry is required for 3D surface contouring.
The 17012965 is an SPB540-series cobalt ball end mill designed for use with standard Weldon flat milling tool holders accepting a 0.750-inch shank diameter. It is suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by qualified machining personnel with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Seat the Weldon flat shank securely in the tool holder and torque the set screw to the holder manufacturer's specification before engaging the spindle. Verify runout does not exceed the 0.001-inch TIR maximum before production cutting. Confirm cutting direction is set to right-hand before programming tool paths.
