The SECO 17011900 is a single-end cobalt square end mill designed for metal removal in demanding milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat and wear resistance in materials that challenge standard HSS tooling. The cutter measures 2 inches in diameter with a 2-inch length of cut, a 1.25-inch shank diameter, and a 4.5-inch overall length. Six spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle provide efficient chip evacuation and a stable cut. The bright uncoated finish is standard for cobalt tools used in a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals install and operate this end mill in CNC machining centers and manual mills.
The 17011900 is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. Its centercutting geometry allows plunge entry without a pilot hole. The right-hand cut, right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional and climb milling setups. The stub length classification places the tool in short-reach applications where rigidity is prioritized over extended reach. No coolant-through capability is present, so external coolant or mist lubrication is appropriate when thermal management is required.
The SECO 17011900 belongs to the SPC408 series and is designed for use in standard end mill holders and collet chucks accepting a 1.25-inch shank diameter. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys per material codes P, M, K, N, and S.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. The end mill must be secured in a tool holder rated for the shank diameter and confirmed to manufacturer runout specifications before operation. Verify machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool. Total indicated runout should not exceed 0.0010 inches as specified; excessive runout accelerates flute wear and can cause premature tool failure.
