The SECO 17011883 is a single-end, square-profile cobalt end mill designed for material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers improved heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. The cutter features a 1.25-inch mill diameter, a 2-inch length of cut, and a 30-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation. Four spiral flutes and a centercutting geometry allow it to enter workpieces axially or engage in conventional side milling. The bright uncoated finish suits applications where coating adhesion or workpiece contamination is a concern. This tool is sold individually and targets machinists, tool-and-die shops, and production floor personnel.
The 17011883 is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys, covering ISO material codes P, M, K, N, and S. Its short-length classification and 1-inch shank diameter make it a practical choice for rigid setups in knee mills, vertical machining centers, and manual milling machines where minimizing overhang is a priority. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional spindle rotation. No extended reach, variable helix, variable index, chipbreaker, or coolant-through features are present.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for 1.25-inch diameter, 4-flute cobalt square end mills in the SPC408 series. Compatible with any standard 1-inch bore end mill holder, collet chuck, or Weldon-style holder accepting a 1-inch shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the milling machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the recommended engagement depth and verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Consult the machine tool manufacturer and applicable OSHA or ANSI B11 standards for workholding torque and operating speed guidelines.
