The SECO 17011871 is a single-end, square-profile cobalt end mill designed for metal removal in demanding machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention that standard HSS tools cannot match. The cutter measures 1.25 inches in diameter with a 3-inch length of cut, a 1.25-inch shank diameter, and a 5.5-inch overall length. Four spiral flutes at a 30-degree helix angle promote chip evacuation and stable cutting action across a range of workpiece materials. The uncoated bright finish suits applications where coating interaction with the workpiece is a concern.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys in short-reach setups. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as peripheral and slot milling operations. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard. It fits conventional vertical and horizontal milling machines, machining centers, and manual knee mills where a 1.25-inch shank holder or collet chuck is available.
Designed for use in milling machine spindles and machining centers accepting a 1.25-inch straight shank. Part of the SECO SPC408 series of cobalt square end mills.
Installation is performed by machinist or toolroom personnel. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and de-energized before changing tooling. Secure the shank in a properly sized end mill holder, collet chuck, or Weldon-style holder torqued per the holder manufacturer's specification. Inspect cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use, and verify runout does not exceed the 0.001-inch TIR maximum for this tool.
