The SECO 17011870 is a single-end, square-profile cobalt end mill designed for material removal in milling applications across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built to M42 cobalt high-speed steel grade, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention when cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and high-temp alloys. The cutter measures 1.25 inches in diameter with a 2-inch length of cut and a 4.5-inch overall length. The 30-degree helix spiral flute geometry and 4-flute configuration promote chip evacuation and surface finish in moderate to aggressive feed applications. This tool ships uncoated in a bright finish.
This end mill is suited for general-purpose milling work on manual mills and CNC machining centers in job shop, production, and MRO environments. The 1.25-inch shank diameter fits standard ER or shell mill arbor toolholders of the appropriate bore. The centercutting design allows plunge entry as well as side milling and slotting operations. Typical users include machinists and tool-and-die professionals working with steel, stainless, cast iron, aluminum, and high-temp alloy workpieces. The Series SPC408 stub-length profile provides rigidity in setups where overhang must be minimized.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-application cobalt end mill for use in milling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, and high-temp alloys, consistent with ISO material codes P, M, K, N, and S.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician in a properly maintained mill spindle. The tool shank must be seated and clamped in a clean, undamaged holder of the correct bore size before mounting. Verify spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and depth of cut before engaging the cutter. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use and replace the tool when edge condition degrades to avoid workpiece damage or tool breakage.
