The SECO 17011868 is a square-end, single-end cobalt end mill designed for material removal in demanding machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention when cutting ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. The cutter measures 1.125 inches in diameter with a 1-inch shank diameter and 6.5 inches overall length. The 4-inch length of cut and 6-flute geometry provide high feed capacity and a strong finish pass in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and high-temperature alloys. This tool is suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills operated by machinists and toolroom professionals.
The 17011868 belongs to the SPC408 long series and is well suited for applications requiring extended reach beyond standard-length end mills. The 4-inch length of cut handles deep-pocket milling and long-reach roughing or finishing passes. The centercutting design allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation follow conventional setup for most vertical and horizontal machining center spindles. Typical applications include mold and die work, structural steel machining, and general-purpose metal removal where a long-reach tool is required.
Rated for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys per SECO material codes P, M, K, N, and S. Part of the SPC408 long series. Fits any spindle or toolholder accepting a 1-inch straight shank.
Installation is performed by machinists using an appropriate collet chuck, end mill holder, or hydraulic toolholder sized for a 1-inch shank. Verify shank runout does not exceed the 0.001-inch TIR maximum before commencing a cut. Power down and lock out the spindle before loading or removing the tool from the holder. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and ANSI B11 safety guidelines for end mill setup and feeds and speeds selection.
