The SECO 17011867 is a single-end square end mill designed for material removal in milling operations on machining centers and manual mills. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it runs uncoated with a bright finish and carries six spiral flutes at a 30-degree helix angle. The cutting diameter is 1.125 inches with a 2-inch length of cut, a 1-inch straight shank, and a 4.5-inch overall length. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral milling. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation suit standard spindle rotation. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary users of this tool.
The SPC408 series end mill is suited for short-reach milling applications where rigidity matters. It is rated for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S. Typical applications include slotting, side milling, and step milling on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces in job shop and production environments. The short length type keeps deflection low during aggressive cuts in harder materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use end mill for toolholders accepting a 1-inch straight shank, compatible with ER collet chucks, side-lock holders, and hydraulic chucks sized for 1-inch shank tooling.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. The shank must be clean and free of burrs before seating in the toolholder, and runout should be verified with a dial indicator against the TIR maximum of 0.001 inches. Confirm spindle direction matches the right-hand cut orientation before engaging the workpiece. Follow shop safety procedures and machine tool manufacturer guidelines for tool clamping torque and speed-and-feed selection for the workpiece material.
