The SECO 17011841 is a cobalt square end mill built for material removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. It runs a 1 inch cutting diameter with a 1-7/8 inch length of cut and a 3/4 inch shank diameter, giving machinists a rigid, short-reach geometry suited to general milling work. The four-flute, right-hand spiral configuration runs at a 30-degree helix angle and supports centercutting, allowing plunge entry directly into the workpiece. The M42 cobalt substrate provides better heat resistance than standard HSS, extending tool life in tougher materials without the need for a coating. It ships as a single-end tool in the Series SPC408 lineup.
This end mill is designed for milling operations on machining centers and manual mills in job shop, production, and maintenance environments. It is a short-length tool suitable for slotting, peripheral milling, and shoulder milling in ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. The uncoated bright finish makes it easy to inspect for wear and re-coat if needed. Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using a standard end mill holder, collet chuck, or Weldon-style holder sized for a 3/4 inch shank. Confirm runout does not exceed the 0.0010 inch TIR maximum before cutting. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Follow your machine tool manufacturer guidelines for appropriate feeds, speeds, and depth of cut for the workpiece material.
