The SECO 17011837 is a single-end, 6-flute cobalt square end mill designed for material removal and finishing operations in demanding machining environments. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright/uncoated finish, it delivers solid performance across a range of workpiece materials without the need for a coating. The tool measures 1 inch in diameter with a 6-inch length of cut and an 8.5-inch overall length. A 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard. This end mill is suited for machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators working in production or job shop settings.
This end mill is rated for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys. It is part of the SPC408 series, which is designed for long-reach roughing and finishing applications where a standard-length tool cannot reach the required depth of cut. The 6-inch length of cut makes it well suited for deep-pocket milling, profile work, and slotting operations where extended engagement is required. It is appropriate for both manual and CNC milling machines in job shop and production environments.
Designed for use with standard milling machine spindles and CNC machining centers accepting a 1-inch straight shank. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys (ISO material codes P, M, K, N, and S).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the milling machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down or placed in an e-stop state before loading or removing the tool. Use a properly sized collet, end mill holder, or hydraulic chuck sized to the 1-inch shank diameter to maintain concentricity within the rated TIR of 0.0010 inches. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended cutting parameters for the workpiece material; consult published speeds and feeds data for M42 cobalt at the applicable diameter.
