The SECO 17011832 is a single-end, square-profile cobalt end mill engineered for demanding metal-removal applications in production and job-shop environments. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it offers superior heat and wear resistance compared to standard M2 HSS tooling. The cutter measures 1 inch in diameter with a 4-inch length of cut and a 6-1/2-inch overall length, placing it in the long-series category suited for deep-pocket and extended-reach operations. The 6-flute geometry supports higher feed rates and improved surface finish in finishing and semi-finishing passes. The bright uncoated finish keeps regrinding straightforward and cost-effective.
This end mill is rated for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys, covering a broad range of workpiece materials commonly encountered in aerospace, general machining, and mold-and-die work. The right-hand cut, right-hand spiral flute design and 30-degree helix angle provide stable chip evacuation in vertical and horizontal milling centers. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole, adding setup flexibility. The 1-inch shank diameter fits standard CAT, BT, HSK, and straight-bore toolholders in that bore size.
Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys (material codes P, M, K, N, S). Part of the SECO SPC408 long-series end mill line. Fits any 1-inch-bore toolholder in compatible milling machine spindles.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Seat the shank fully into a clean, properly torqued toolholder and verify runout against the published TIR maximum of 0.0010 inches using a dial indicator before cutting. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or adjusting tooling. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling manufacturer feed-and-speed recommendations for the specific workpiece material to avoid premature edge wear or tool failure.
