The SECO 17011831 is a single-end cobalt square end mill designed for material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention that standard HSS tooling cannot match. The cutter measures 1 inch in diameter with a 6 inch length of cut, a 1 inch shank diameter, and an 8.5 inch overall length. Four right-hand spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle provide efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The bright uncoated finish makes it well suited for applications where coatings are not required or where regrinding is anticipated. Centercutting geometry allows for plunge entry directly into the workpiece.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. The regular-length profile and 1 inch shank make it compatible with standard end mill holders and collet chucks found on vertical machining centers, knee mills, and CNC milling machines across job shop and production environments. It belongs to SECO Series SPC408 and is sized for heavier roughing and finishing passes where a full-inch cutter is appropriate.
Designed for use with standard 1 inch end mill holders, side-lock holders, and collet chucks on vertical machining centers and manual knee mills. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys per SECO material codes P, M, K, N, and S.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or locked-out state before changing tooling. Secure the shank to the full recommended gauge-line depth in the holder to maintain rigidity and minimize runout. Verify TIR at the tool tip after installation before running the first cut.
