The SECO 17011829 is a single-end, 4-flute square end mill designed for material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention at elevated cutting temperatures without a coating. The cutter measures 1 inch in diameter with a 3 inch length of cut and a 5.5 inch overall length. The 1 inch straight shank seats directly into standard end mill holders. A 30-degree right-hand spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on vertical mills, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in a range of shop environments. The centercutting design allows plunge entry into the workpiece without pre-drilling. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys. The uncoated bright finish makes it a practical choice when cutting fluids are used and re-sharpening is anticipated. Series SPC408 tooling is a standard fractional-inch offering targeting general-purpose milling across production and job-shop settings.
Designed for use in standard 1 inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and Weldon-shank tool holders on vertical and horizontal milling machines. Suitable for use with the primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, and S as defined by the input specification: steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys.
End mills are installed by qualified machinists and CNC operators. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder and torque the set screw or collet nut according to the tool holder manufacturer's specifications. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before engaging the cut — maximum allowable TIR for this tool is 0.0010 inches per the specification. Do not exceed the rated depth of cut for the material being machined.
