The SECO 17011791 is a single-end cobalt square end mill designed for material removal in demanding machining applications. Built to M42 cobalt high-speed steel grade specifications, it delivers increased heat and wear resistance compared to standard M2 HSS tooling. The cutter measures 0.75 inches in diameter with a 1.625-inch length of cut and a 3.875-inch overall length. Six spiral flutes with a 30-degree right-hand helix provide efficient chip evacuation and a smooth cutting action. This end mill is centercutting, allowing plunge entry, and runs in a right-hand cutting direction. It carries no coating, leaving a bright uncoated finish appropriate for general-purpose and ferrous machining setups.
The 17011791 is suited for milling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and other non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. Its short-length classification makes it a stable choice for face milling, slotting, and profiling passes where rigidity matters. The 0.75-inch shank diameter matches the cutter diameter directly, supporting solid tool holding in standard end mill holders, collet chucks, or shrink-fit systems. This tool is appropriate for CNC machining centers and manual knee mills used in job shop, production, and maintenance repair environments.
Designed for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys per SECO SPC408 series application guidance. Compatible with any tool holder accepting a 0.75-inch straight shank end mill.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Secure the 0.75-inch shank fully within the tool holder to the minimum engagement depth recommended by the holder manufacturer, and confirm runout does not exceed the 0.001-inch TIR maximum before cutting. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Verify the machine spindle rotation is set to right-hand before engaging the cut.
