The SECO 17011789 is a single-end, 4-flute cobalt square end mill designed for metal removal in demanding milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention when cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and other non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys. The 0.75 inch diameter cutter runs a 3 inch length of cut and a 5.25 inch overall length, making it a long-series tool suited for deeper pockets and extended-reach work. A 30-degree helix spiral flute geometry promotes chip evacuation and smooth cutting action across a wide range of workpiece materials.
This end mill fits general-purpose milling operations in job shop and production environments. The SPC408 long series designation means it is built for applications where standard-length tools cannot reach the full depth of cut. It is well suited for milling steel and stainless steel components, cast iron housings, aluminum fixtures, and high-temp alloy parts on manual mills and CNC machining centers. Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom professional. Secure the 0.75 inch shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder and verify runout does not exceed 0.001 inches TIR before cutting. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or setting the tool. Follow the machine manufacturer feed, speed, and depth-of-cut recommendations for cobalt tooling on the intended workpiece material.
