The SECO 17011756 is a cobalt square end mill designed for material removal in milling operations on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. Built to M42 cobalt high-speed steel specification, it offers improved heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. The cutter measures 0.75 inches in diameter with a 1.625-inch length of cut, a 0.5-inch shank diameter, and an overall length of 3.625 inches. Four spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting action. The bright uncoated finish is suitable for a wide range of general-purpose milling applications where coating is not required.
This end mill is used in vertical and horizontal milling operations across job shops, tool rooms, and production environments. Its centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry into the workpiece without a pre-drilled hole. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional milling setups. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys. The short-series length type provides added rigidity in setups where tool deflection is a concern.
Designed for use in milling machines accepting a 0.5-inch shank diameter. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys per Series SPC408 application guidelines.
Installation is performed by machinists using a collet chuck or end mill holder sized for a 0.5-inch shank. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Verify runout does not exceed the specified maximum TIR of 0.001 inches after seating the shank. Follow the machine manufacturer and applicable shop safety guidelines for speeds and feeds based on workpiece material and depth of cut.
