The SECO 17011753 is a single-end cobalt square end mill designed for material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous metalworking applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers improved heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling, making it well suited for harder materials and interrupted cuts. The cutter measures 0.625 inches in diameter with a 1.625-inch length of cut, a 0.625-inch shank diameter, and a 3.75-inch overall length. Six spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle provide efficient chip evacuation and a smooth cutting action. The bright, uncoated finish keeps the tool ready to run as received. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and CNC setup operators are the typical end users.
The 17011753 belongs to SECO Series SPC408 and is configured for right-hand cut with right-hand flute geometry. The centercutting design allows plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral and slot milling. Primary workpiece material categories include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys. This makes the tool a practical general-purpose choice for job shop environments handling mixed-material workflows on manual mills or CNC machining centers.
Designed for use in standard end-mill holders, collet chucks, or shrink-fit tooling accepting a 0.625-inch straight shank. Suited for manual vertical mills and CNC machining centers running right-hand spindle rotation. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys per Series SPC408 application guidelines.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup personnel. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout against the published TIR maximum of 0.001 inches before beginning production cuts.
