The SECO 17011750 is a single-end, square-profile cobalt end mill designed for material removal in milling applications across a range of metalworking operations. The cutter measures 0.625 inches in diameter with a 1.625-inch length of cut, a 0.625-inch shank diameter, and an overall length of 3.75 inches. Manufactured from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this tool carries an uncoated bright finish and features four right-hand spiral flutes at a 30-degree helix angle. The centercutting geometry allows the tool to plunge directly into workpiece material. This end mill is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. Its M42 cobalt construction provides increased heat resistance compared to standard M2 HSS tooling, making it appropriate for harder ferrous materials and interrupted cuts. The SPC408 series designation identifies this as a four-flute, fractional-inch-system tool within the SECO general-purpose cobalt end mill line. It is applicable to both manual and CNC milling machines where a 5/8-inch collet or end mill holder is used.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or production end mill for 5/8-inch end mill holders, collet chucks, or Weldon-style holders on manual knee mills and CNC machining centers. Part of the SECO SPC408 series.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. Secure the shank in a properly sized 5/8-inch end mill holder or collet and torque the retention fastener per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Verify runout after installation; maximum TIR for this tool is 0.0010 inches. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rates for the workpiece material being machined.
