The SECO 17011734 is a single-end, square-profile cobalt end mill engineered for milling operations in demanding metalworking applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers improved hardness and heat resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. The cutter measures 7/16 inches in diameter with a 2-inch length of cut and a 3/8-inch shank. Overall length is 3-11/16 inches. The 4-flute, spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes chip evacuation and surface finish quality. The bright uncoated finish is suited to applications where coating buildup or adhesion is a concern. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is designed for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. It is centercutting, making it capable of plunging directly into a workpiece. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional milling setups. The regular length profile fits a wide range of knee mills, vertical machining centers, and manual milling machines. Series SPC408 positioning makes it a direct-fit choice for shops already running SECO SPC408-family tooling.
Designed as a direct replacement or standard-inventory tool in the SECO SPC408 series. Compatible with milling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. Fits any toolholder or collet chuck accepting a 3/8-inch straight shank.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Seat the 3/8-inch shank fully and evenly in the collet or end mill holder to the recommended engagement depth for the holder type — consult the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect runout with a dial indicator after clamping; maximum TIR for this tool is 0.0010 inches. Do not exceed the tool's rated length of cut during slotting passes.
