The SECO 17011727 is a cobalt square end mill designed for material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this single-end mill offers improved heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. It features a 0.375-inch cutting diameter, a 2.5-inch length of cut, and a 4.25-inch overall length. The 4-flute spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix provides a balance of chip evacuation and surface finish. Centercutting capability allows for direct plunge entry. This end mill is suited for milling operations run by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on manual mills and CNC machining centers.
The 17011727 is rated for use on a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. The uncoated bright finish makes it suitable for applications where coating adhesion to the workpiece is a concern, such as aluminum and other non-ferrous materials. It is a regular-length tool in the SECO SPC408 series, a consistent choice for general-purpose slotting, profiling, and side-milling operations in production and job-shop environments.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in a clean, properly sized collet or end-mill holder and torque the retention device per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, and confirm runout does not exceed the rated TIR maximum before starting a production run.
