The SECO 17011705 is a single-end cobalt square end mill designed for precision material removal in milling operations across a wide range of workpiece materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers the heat and wear resistance needed when cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. The cutter measures 7/32 inch (0.2188 inches) in diameter with a 5/8 inch (0.6250 inches) length of cut, a 3/8 inch shank diameter, and an overall length of 2-7/16 inches (2.4375 inches). Four spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation. The bright uncoated finish makes this a reliable choice for general-purpose milling where coating is not required.
This end mill is suited for vertical and horizontal milling centers, manual knee mills, and CNC machining centers in both job shop and production environments. Its centercutting geometry allows both peripheral and plunge cutting. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional and climb milling on typical machine spindles. Series SPC408 designates its place in SECO's cobalt fractional-inch end mill lineup, making it a practical selection for machinists working with ferrous and non-ferrous materials where tool cost and regrindability matter.
Designed for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys per material codes P, M, K, N, and S. Compatible with standard 3/8 inch milling collets and end mill holders on vertical mills, knee mills, and CNC machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Secure the 3/8 inch shank fully into a matching collet or end mill holder and verify runout does not exceed the 0.0010 inch TIR maximum before cutting. Confirm spindle rotation matches the right-hand cut direction before engaging the workpiece. Inspect the cutting edges for damage before each use and replace if chipping or wear is evident.
