The SECO 17011697 is a single-end square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers strong heat and wear resistance in demanding cutting environments. The tool features a 3/16 inch cutting diameter, a 3/16 inch length of cut, and a 3/8 inch shank diameter, with an overall length of 2-1/16 inches. With 4 spiral flutes, a 30-degree helix angle, and a bright uncoated finish, it is suited for general-purpose milling on a range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. It is a stub-length mill, offering added rigidity in tight-clearance setups.
This end mill is intended for use in machine shop and production environments where controlled material removal is required. It is rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys. The center-cutting design allows for plunge entry in addition to peripheral and slot milling operations. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry suit standard CNC and manual milling machine spindle configurations. It is part of the SECO SPC408 series stub end mill line.
Compatible with primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys as indicated by material codes P, M, K, N, and S. Part of the SPC408 series.
This end mill is installed by machinists in CNC or manual milling machines using a collet, end mill holder, or Weldon-style chuck sized for a 3/8 inch shank. Verify spindle runout before use — the TIR maximum for this tool is 0.0010 inches. Ensure the machine is fully powered down and the spindle is locked before inserting or removing the tool. Follow shop-standard feeds, speeds, and coolant practices appropriate for the workpiece material being cut.
