The SECO 17011670 is a 2-flute cobalt square end mill designed for material removal in ferrous and high-strength workpiece materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat and wear resistance beyond standard HSS tooling, making it well suited for interrupted cuts and harder stock. The mill measures 2 inches in diameter with a 1-5/8 inch length of cut, a 1-1/4 inch shank diameter, and a 4-1/8 inch overall length. It features a 30-degree spiral flute geometry, right-hand cut, right-hand flute, and a bright uncoated finish. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC mill operators select this geometry for profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling operations.
This end mill is part of the SP205 stub-length series, which prioritizes rigidity by limiting overhang relative to diameter. Stub-length tools reduce deflection during aggressive side-milling passes and are a common choice in production environments where repeatability matters. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece without a pre-drilled pilot hole, adding flexibility in contouring and pocket milling applications on vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Designed for use in standard R8, CAT, BT, or HSK toolholding systems accepting a 1-1/4 inch shank diameter. Rated for primary workpiece materials steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), and high-temperature alloys (S) per ISO material classification codes included in the product specification.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators. Secure the 1-1/4 inch shank in a properly sized collet chuck or end mill holder and verify runout against the TIR maximum of 0.0010 inches before cutting. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Do not exceed the manufacturer-recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material grade and depth of cut.
