The SECO 17011652 is a single-end cobalt square end mill designed for material removal in demanding machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention when cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. The mill features a 0.75-inch cutting diameter, a 1.3125-inch length of cut, and a 30-degree helix angle on a spiral flute geometry. The bright, uncoated finish suits shops that re-sharpen tooling or apply their own coatings. This is a short-length tool intended for rigid setups where minimizing deflection is a priority. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users.
The 17011652 fits vertical and horizontal milling machines, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills where a 0.5-inch shank is accepted. Its 3.3125-inch overall length keeps the tool compact for short-reach slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration matches the standard spindle rotation of most machining center setups. With centercutting capability, the tool can plunge directly into a workpiece without a pre-drilled entry hole. The two-flute configuration provides good chip clearance when working in softer steel grades and materials with gummy chip characteristics.

Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom personnel following standard toolholder torque and runout procedures for the specific holder in use. Verify spindle stop and machine lockout before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder and confirm TIR does not exceed 0.001 inches before cutting. Do not exceed the tool's rated depth of cut per pass for the workpiece material being machined.
