The SECO 17011644 is a single-end square end mill designed for metal removal in milling operations across a range of ferrous and high-temperature alloy materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this tool offers improved heat and wear resistance compared to standard M2 HSS. It features a 0.5 inch cutting diameter, a 13/16 inch length of cut, and a 30-degree helix angle with a right-hand spiral flute configuration. The uncoated bright finish is well-suited for applications where coating compatibility or regrinding frequency is a consideration. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers and users of this tool.
This end mill is rated for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, K, and S. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry into workpiece material. The short length classification and 3/8 inch reduced shank diameter make it appropriate for setups requiring a smaller shank with a larger cutting diameter, commonly encountered in bridgeport-style knee mills, CNC machining centers, and manual milling operations where rigidity and reach are balanced against cutter size.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling addition in the SECO SP205 series, rated for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloy workpiece materials.
This tool is installed and used by machinists in milling machine spindles using a collet or end mill holder sized for a 3/8 inch shank. Verify runout does not exceed the 0.001 inch TIR maximum before cutting. Ensure the spindle and tool holder are clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Follow standard shop safety practices including proper RPM and feed rate selection for the workpiece material and tool diameter.
