The SECO 17011642 is a single-end, two-flute square end mill designed for general-purpose milling in demanding materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers the heat and wear resistance needed when cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. The cutting diameter is 0.4375 inches (7/16 inches), with a 0.8125-inch (13/16 inches) length of cut and a 0.375-inch (3/8 inches) shank diameter. Overall length is 2.5 inches. The 30-degree spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation, while the centercutting design allows plunge entry. The bright, uncoated finish suits applications where coating is not required or where regrinding is expected.
This end mill is suited for short-reach milling operations in job shop, tool room, and production environments. The SP205 series targets applications in steel and stainless steel where a cobalt substrate provides a cost-effective alternative to carbide. Typical operations include slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. It is designed for use in manual mills and CNC machining centers running appropriate feeds and speeds for M42 cobalt tooling. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional spindle rotation.
Designed as an OEM-style tooling solution for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. Primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, and S align with ISO material classification for those substrates.
Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians in a mill spindle using an appropriate collet, end mill holder, or side-lock arbor sized for a 3/8-inch shank. Confirm the holder TIR does not exceed the tool specification before use. Power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut for a two-flute cobalt end mill in hard or abrasive materials, as overloading will cause premature edge failure.
