The SECO 17011634 is a cobalt square end mill built for material removal in demanding ferrous and high-temperature alloy applications. Manufactured from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this single-end mill features a 9/32 inch (0.2812 inch) cutting diameter and a 9/16 inch (0.5625 inch) length of cut. The 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces across a range of workpiece materials. A bright, uncoated finish is standard, making this tool well suited for applications where coating interaction with the workpiece is a concern. It belongs to the SP205 series and carries a right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction.
This end mill is designed for use in vertical mills, CNC machining centers, and manual milling machines where short-length, fractional-inch tooling is required. It is appropriate for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. The 3/8 inch shank diameter fits standard collet and end mill holders commonly found in job shops and production environments. The short length-of-cut geometry improves rigidity and minimizes deflection in tight-tolerance cuts.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for milling operations requiring a 3/8 inch shank, fractional-inch cobalt end mill in the SP205 short series. Compatible with steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloy workpieces as identified by material codes P, M, K, and S.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or removing the end mill. Seat the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout does not exceed the 0.0010 inch TIR maximum before commencing a cut.
