Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers greater heat and wear resistance than standard HSS tooling, making it well suited for interrupted cuts and harder workpiece materials. The cutter features a 0.25-inch diameter, a 0.5-inch length of cut, and a 30-degree spiral helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation. The bright, uncoated finish maintains a sharp edge and is appropriate for applications where coating adhesion or coolant interaction is a concern. This tool is installed and run by machinists and toolroom technicians on vertical mills, knee mills, and CNC machining centers.
The 17011632 is suited for short-reach profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. The 0.375-inch shank diameter fits standard ER and straight-bore toolholders. Its 2.3125-inch overall length keeps the tool rigid in short-reach setups where deflection must be minimized. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
