The SECO 17011628 is a single-end cobalt square end mill designed for material removal in ferrous and high-temperature alloy machining applications. Built to M42 cobalt high-speed steel grade, it delivers heat and wear resistance beyond standard HSS tooling. The cutting diameter is 0.1875 inches with a 0.4375-inch length of cut, a 0.375-inch shank diameter, and a 2.3125-inch overall length. The two-flute spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation in slotting and peripheral milling operations. This tool is centercutting, allowing plunge entry without a pre-drilled start hole. It ships bright and uncoated.
This end mill is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys in short-reach milling setups on manual mills and CNC machining centers. The short length type and two-flute configuration make it a practical choice for slotting, profiling, and light pocketing in these materials. The SP205 series is SECO's standard cobalt end mill line and is commonly used in job shop and production environments where uncoated HSS-Co tooling is preferred over carbide for interrupted cuts or softer setups. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard.

Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup personnel. Always power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Verify collet or tool holder bore matches the 0.375-inch shank diameter and that runout is within acceptable limits before taking a cut. Do not exceed the 0.4375-inch length of cut when programming axial depth of cut.
