The SECO 17010857 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it features a 3/4-inch mill diameter, a 1.25-inch length of cut, and a 3.5-inch overall length. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree maximum helix angle delivers efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting performance. This tool is part of the REM445 series and is suited for roughing passes where stock removal rate takes priority over surface finish.
This end mill is used in job shop, tool room, and production machining environments where cobalt tooling is preferred over carbide for its toughness and resistance to chipping. Typical applications include roughing slots, profiling, and peripheral milling in ferrous and difficult-to-machine alloys. The short flute length type makes it well suited for rigid setups with minimal overhang. Machinists and CNC operators working with manual mills, knee mills, or vertical machining centers will find this a dependable roughing tool for everyday material removal tasks.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill replacement for standard 3/4-inch shank toolholders and collets used in vertical milling machines and machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Secure the tool in a properly sized collet or end mill holder rated for the 3/4-inch shank diameter and torque the retention system according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Do not use this non-centercutting end mill for plunge cuts directly into solid material.
