The SECO 17010853 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, this tool handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials where standard HSS tooling falls short. The 4-flute geometry provides a balance of chip evacuation and cutting stability, making it a reliable choice for roughing passes on manual mills and CNC machining centers. At 5/8 inch diameter with a matching 5/8 inch shank, it fits standard collets and end mill holders without adapters.
This end mill is suited for job shops, tool rooms, and production environments requiring consistent roughing performance. Typical applications include slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in steel, stainless, and alloy materials. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional vertical and horizontal milling setups. It is sized for benchtop mills, knee mills, and light CNC machining centers handling medium-duty roughing work.
Designed as a standard 5/8 inch shank single-end roughing end mill compatible with collet chucks, end mill holders, and milling machine spindles accepting 5/8 inch straight shanks.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and at a complete stop. Ensure the shank is fully seated and properly torqued in the holder per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping before each use. Do not use this non-centercutting end mill for direct plunge entry into solid material.
