The SECO 17010375 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this tool handles tough ferrous and non-ferrous materials where standard HSS tooling wears too quickly. It features a 1/2-inch mill diameter, four flutes, and a 2-inch length of cut, with a 30-degree maximum helix angle and right-hand cutting and flute direction. The bright/uncoated finish keeps the surface as-ground. Machinists and tool-room technicians reach for this style of end mill when roughing passes demand chip-clearing efficiency and tool longevity under heavy feeds.
This end mill fits conventional vertical and horizontal milling machines, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills used in job shops, maintenance facilities, and production environments. The long-series designation and 4-inch overall length make it suitable for applications requiring additional reach beyond standard-length tooling. Its 1/2-inch straight shank fits standard R8, ER, and side-lock toolholders. Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill for use in 1/2-inch straight-shank toolholders on standard milling machines and CNC machining centers. Verify toolholder bore and runout tolerance before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder to the minimum engagement depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer, and verify tool runout with a dial indicator before taking a cut. Do not use this end mill as a center-cutting tool — this series is not center-cutting and cannot be plunged axially.
