The SECO 17010369 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers the heat resistance and toughness needed for interrupted cuts and hard materials. The mill has a 3/8-inch diameter with a 1-1/2-inch length of cut and a 3-1/4-inch overall length. Four right-hand spiral flutes with a 30-degree maximum helix angle efficiently evacuate chips during high-feed roughing passes. The bright, uncoated finish is well suited to applications where coating may not be required or where regrinding is anticipated. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the typical end users.
This end mill is used in conventional milling operations on machining centers and manual knee mills where rapid stock removal is the primary objective. The regular-length geometry and 3/8-inch shank diameter make it compatible with standard collet chucks and end mill holders found in most production shops. It is not center-cutting, so it is intended for peripheral and side milling rather than plunge operations. The right-hand cutting direction suits standard spindle rotation on most vertical and horizontal milling setups.
Designed as a roughing end mill for use in standard 3/8-inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and milling tool holders on vertical and horizontal machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder before torquing to the tool holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation, as excessive runout accelerates flute wear and reduces cut quality.
