The SECO 17010363 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention when cutting ferrous metals, stainless steels, and other tough alloys. The 5/16-inch (0.3125 inch) mill diameter pairs with a 3/8-inch shank and a 3/4-inch length of cut, giving machinists a compact, rigid profile suited for slotting, profiling, and roughing passes. The 4-flute spiral configuration with a 30-degree maximum helix angle evacuates chips efficiently while maintaining tool stability under load.
This end mill is used in manual mills, CNC machining centers, and knee mills across job shops, maintenance facilities, and production environments. It is suited for roughing cuts in steel, cast iron, and similar materials where rapid stock removal is the priority before a finishing pass. The regular-length body fits standard tool holders accepting a 3/8-inch shank. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional and climb milling setups.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill for use in standard milling machines and machining centers that accept a 3/8-inch shank end mill holder or collet.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Secure the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the collet or end mill holder, and verify runout before beginning a cut. Do not use this tool for plunge cutting, as it is a non-center-cutting design.
