The SECO 17007763 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiAlN coating, it delivers elevated heat resistance and extended tool life in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. The 3/8 inch diameter tool features 4 spiral flutes, a right-hand cutting direction, and a 30-degree maximum helix angle. The chipbreaker geometry is absent by design, keeping the profile clean for standard roughing passes. This tool is installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC and manual milling operations.
This end mill is suited for roughing cuts in steel, stainless, and high-temperature alloys where heat buildup and tool wear are primary concerns. The stub length configuration — 1/2 inch length of cut and 2-1/4 inch overall length — provides rigidity in short-reach setups, reducing deflection during heavy chip loads. The TiAlN coating supports dry or semi-dry cutting environments. The 3/8 inch shank diameter matches the mill diameter, making it compatible with standard collet and end mill holders of the same bore size. No coolant-through capability; external coolant or air blast is used at the operator's discretion.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement roughing end mill for use in standard 3/8 inch collets, end mill holders, and Weldon-style tool holders in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in the holder to the recommended engagement depth per the holder manufacturer's guidelines, and torque set screws or collet nuts per holder specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates tool wear and degrades surface finish.
