The SECO 17007761 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiAlN coating, it handles the heat and wear generated during heavy cuts in ferrous and difficult-to-machine alloys. The tool measures 0.3125 inches (5/16 inches) in mill diameter with a 0.75 inch length of cut and a 2.5 inch overall length. Four spiral flutes in a fine-pitch, right-hand cutting configuration deliver efficient chip evacuation while the center-cutting design allows for plunge entry. A 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank provides a secure grip in standard milling chucks and collets.
This end mill is suited for roughing passes in CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling setups. The TiAlN coating extends tool life in dry or semi-dry cutting conditions, making it a practical choice for shops working stainless steel, alloy steel, titanium, and other tough workpiece materials. The fine-pitch configuration is optimized for controlling vibration and chatter during roughing cuts. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in production or maintenance environments will find this a reliable stock replacement in the REC448 series.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill in the SECO REC448 series, fitting standard 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical collet and milling chuck tool holders.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the minimum recommended insertion depth in the holder and verify runout before beginning a cut. Always confirm feed rate and speed settings are appropriate for the workpiece material and cutting depth before engaging the tool.
