The SECO 17007607 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from solid carbide with an AlTiN coating, it handles high-heat cutting conditions without breaking down at the cutting edge. The 5-flute, fine-pitch design with a 45-degree maximum helix angle promotes chip evacuation while maintaining a smooth cutting action. At 0.5000 inches in diameter with a 0.6250-inch length of cut and a 2.5-inch overall length, this tool fits standard 1/2-inch straight-cylindrical shank tool holders. It is center-cutting and cuts in a right-hand direction with right-hand spiral flutes. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals rely on this style of end mill for roughing passes on steel and other hard materials.
This end mill is suited for roughing operations on ferrous metals, hardened steels, and similar materials where heat generation is a concern. The AlTiN coating provides oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures, making it appropriate for dry or minimal-coolant machining environments. Coolant-through capability is not included in this tool. It fits machine spindles that accept 1/2-inch straight-cylindrical shanks, common on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills used in production, job shop, and maintenance machining settings. It belongs to the SR545 series.
Designed for use in 1/2-inch straight-cylindrical shank tool holders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. Part of the SECO SR545 series of roughing end mills.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the machine spindle fully stopped and power locked out per shop safety procedures. Ensure the tool holder bore and shank are clean and free of chips before seating the end mill. Torque tool holder set screws or collet nuts according to the tool holder manufacturer specifications, not this tool listing. Verify runout with a dial indicator after tool installation before beginning any cutting operation.
