The SECO 17007083 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance finishing cuts in demanding materials. Part of the S545R series, it features a 1-inch mill diameter, a 2-inch length of cut, and a 0.1250-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge. The five-flute, right-hand spiral geometry paired with a high-helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and a superior surface finish. An AlTiN PVD coating extends tool life in elevated-temperature machining environments. This tool is designed for machinists and toolroom operators working on CNC machining centers requiring tight-tolerance finishing passes.
This end mill is suited for finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is a single-end, centercutting tool, meaning it can plunge directly into a workpiece as well as perform standard peripheral and slot milling. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly into standard toolholders. Typical applications include profiling, contouring, and finishing of mold cavities, aerospace components, and precision machined parts where corner radii are specified on the drawing.
Designed for use with standard cylindrical-bore toolholders accepting a 1-inch straight shank. Compatible with CNC machining centers running right-hand spindle rotation. Primary workpiece material compatibility includes steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as designated by material codes P, M, S, and H.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the toolholder. Verify toolholder bore cleanliness and runout before seating the shank; the specified maximum TIR is 0.0005 inches. Confirm programmed feeds, speeds, and depths of cut are appropriate for the workpiece material before initiating a cut.
