The SECO 17007053 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill built for high-performance finishing operations in demanding materials. It carries a 1 inch cutting diameter, a 2 inch length of cut, and a 0.0150 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life in hardened steels and superalloys. Five right-hand spiral flutes with a 45-degree high helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and deliver a smooth surface finish. The AlTiN PVD coating adds thermal resistance and oxidation protection, making this tool well suited for dry and high-speed machining environments. Installed in a standard straight-cylindrical shank toolholder, the 17007053 is a go-to option for machinists running finishing passes on difficult workpiece materials.
This end mill is designed for finishing applications in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its short-length geometry and center-cutting capability allow it to be used for plunge entries, profiling, slotting, and contouring in CNC machining centers. Normal pitch and a fixed helix angle make it predictable across a range of feeds and speeds for shops running production or prototype work in aerospace, medical, mold-and-die, and general precision machining contexts.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical shank toolholders. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Part of the SECO S545R series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with CNC tooling setup procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the 1 inch straight-cylindrical shank fully and evenly in the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout does not exceed the 0.0005 inch TIR maximum before starting the cut.
