The SECO 17007048 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance finishing in demanding metalworking applications. Built to Series S545R specifications, it features a 5/8 inch diameter, a 1-5/8 inch length of cut, and a 0.0300 inch corner radius for controlled edge engagement and reduced chipping at workpiece corners. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and hardness at elevated cutting temperatures. With five flutes and a high 45-degree helix angle, this tool is suited for smooth surface finishes and efficient chip evacuation in tough materials. It is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is intended for finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its centercutting design allows plunge entry, making it adaptable to a range of toolpaths. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard toolholders used in vertical and horizontal machining centers. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional milling setups. Single-end configuration focuses tool mass at the cutting end for rigidity during tight-tolerance finishing passes.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore toolholders compatible with a 5/8 inch cylindrical shank. Suited for CNC machining centers running finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per Series S545R application guidelines.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or unloading the tool. Seat the shank fully in the toolholder to the recommended gauge line and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout does not exceed the 0.0005 inch TIR maximum before beginning a cutting program.
